Our ranch is in east central Texas and this year I plan on going on my first shed hunt. Just curious if anyone knew when they would start dropping?

We have a few bucks showing up at feeders with only one antler already in Mills County.

There was a deer taken at our place in Archer that had already dropped his antlers. He was older than dirt though and not in the best physical shape.

Some have dropped the antlers, most have not yet. Many will not drop until March. Have even seen a few in the past not shed until April

I know of 3 bucks that have shed in the panhandle. I found one side of a buck I know well today.

I am southeast of San Antonio and have not seen or have TC of any bucks that have shed. I do have one older buck that either has hoof rot or a bad hoof that will probably shed early due to loosing body condition.

That looks more like it was broken off the pedicle rather than shed.

I can assure you it was a shed. I seen this deer Saturday and he was not bleeding or acting funny. Would you like a pic of the base?

No sir and no disrespect intended if that's how you took it. I've just never seen a shed with a bone tag like that on it.
