I was given access last season to a really nice place that has produced some good hunts. The landowner only asked that I not bring any guests (hopefully that will change) and bring him a case of coors light.

Last season I also gave him a nice pocket knife which he really seemed to appreciate. He doesn't drink whiskey only beer. I'll definitely get the beer as requested but I'm drawing a blank something else.

He's a typical older rancher type guy. He's got a few horses but I don't know him that well other than that.

Any ideas?

We have a lot of farmers and ranchers we work with. And they always to have a big glass of water or coffee on them, so we purchased all of them those big Yeti cups and they really liked them.

We can print out a map of his property to put on top of his cooler...We sell Bison Coolers and can work out a great discount if you are interested in the idea. We do a lot of business with these as gifts.
Here's a sample:

A nice big spiral cut sugar ham. Good deed sausage, Rib eyes. If the hunting is good enough and last a while, buy him a nice pistol or rifle.

We gave several land owners Yeti 65 Tundras as a thank you. You'd thought we gave them a new piece of farm equipment the way they've gone on about them.

I would start by being thankful for what you have and never asking him about bringing guests. up

Local meat market gift card seems like a great idea.

Lot of good ideas. Yeti full of beer is a huge gift, but he might also appreciate the Bison with a map of his place on it, since it's more personalized. Then you can still fill it with water...I mean Coors Light. peep

Well some people actually keep cars in their garages! haha We always gave different processed meats or cases of beer...but then again, this was mainly back when we were in college and that's all we could afford! We would also give them a few memorable photos from each season and they always seemed to enjoy those. Little things in life I guess....

grin It was fun while it lasted.

Results of a Yeti 65 Tundra as a thank you. Much cheaper than a lease.

From a land owners perspective, nothing is appreciated more than a package of deer or hog meat. I can buy a pocket knife or a case of beer but a package of wild game meat that my entire family can enjoy... banana

Being a landowner myself I'd say a handmade knife by a Texas maker. Possibly from a maker in his home town or close by. Depending on your pocket a nice pistol or rifle would also be excellent. Yeah you could run out and get a cooler and fill it with Coors light. But to me that just would'nt express the appreciation I think you have for the privledge to hunt his land. He needs something he can pass onto his grandkids something that says, " man this guy gets the true value of my land " Just my .02 cents.
