Re-reading, it's not clear if they didn't have motion lights or if they just didn't work...if they didn't have them, then
he outright lied to you and I wouldn't hesitate to out him. If they just didn't work, I'd give him a chance to make things
right first.

There are some real dirt bags in the Texas hunting scene. Mostly in the day hunt business.

There are also some great guides & businesses. They are usually booked as much as they want.

It just completely sucks when a guide tells you a bunch of stuff that is a straight up lie, have a sorry set up, on way too small an acreage, as is the case in this story. OP, your doing everyone a favor by naming him. Reputation isn't everything, it's the only thing.

Give him a chance to make it right. IMO he may have lied to you but it also sounds like you didn't do a good job of asking the right questions.

definitely worth a call, email or letter to him, tell him what you thought you were getting, see what he says.

If you don't get satisfaction or at least a reply, then chalk it up to a dick guide and take some blame yourself not doing your due diligence checking here for references.

I asked questions. Motion lights were supposed to be there. They weren't even present from what I could tell on any of the blinds. We did have a good 2 hours of daylight hunting but after that it was a joke. Not going to name him just yet. Got to give folks a chance to make right. And if he does make right I will let everyone know that too

There are a bunch of crappy outfitters that use "its hunting, not killing" as their excuse for doing a bad job.
I have been with good outfitters and guides that worked their butts off for us, and we didn't get an animal, and I was happy with my experience. This doesn't sound like one of those times.

When you spend a bunch of money on property to scale a business seems like the quality of hunts provided to customers starts to wane. At least that was my experience. Just a money grab at this point unfortunately. Hopefully he makes it right for you.

Seems like he didn't make it right by doing you the way he did. Odds are he has done this before and he will do it again. Said you talked to someone about it. His boss? You would think they would have a little better handle on their business. That's my opinion anyway. How do they make it right for your buddy's that drove from Iowa? If lights were promised and didn't exist there red flag number one.I don't see the problem naming the person. If they are legit they will make it right. Odds are it would have been right the first time. Yes hunting is hunting and animals don't always present them selves for a shot. Just sounds like lots was stacked against you from the beginning. Hope you get it resolved. THF is full of great people.

I have never delt with having to pay i dont make enough but i do have a fishing guid licens and i dont publish it because it my draw arguments but if we go out and you only take home 30 fish i only charge for the fule it cost me to pull the boat nothing els and i discount your next trip i dont charge much to begin with far far less the what most fishing guids charg wich is why so many guids hate me so much i wont charge the 400-500$ for 2 people but i have heard they same story your telling me from others at differs ranches one guy was using pictures of someone else ranch what i was told about hog hunting on a ranch check out the ranch first if they wont let you move one or go to a ranch that has a great reputation sorry to hear that happened to you but i would not have paid the full price. not a lot he can do if he miss led you about the hunt it turns in to a civil matter I have seen a few sewing guids who garenteed catches size and numbers end up in court over it and they lost if the guid said such and such equip was used and it was not and you were not notified that is fraud. and i would not pay someone for misleading me for there own financule gain supplely there is a game ranch by me that does the same thing but with deer and hog but he as not had hog in almost 4 yrs on his land
