So my wife and I did an all nighter cast an blast again. We go out fishing at 2am on sat morning and set up our dekes in a nice little spread. Then we pulled the boat down the coast about 100 yards and fished/gigged for a couple hours. About 5:30 am the expected crown begins to show. Several boats are heading to spots, and we have lights lit so others can see where we are. Its public, so wherever people decide to set up is where they go, and the first group posts up about 300 yards down..perfect no big deal. The second pulls up on the other side in a mud boat about 300 yards behind..all good and they drove by flashing lights toward us that I took as a sign of aknowlegement. Third group rolls up about 400-500 yards down the other way...awesome looks like any birds landing in a half mile here are getting thier ticket punched. The last group rolls up a little after six and plops in between me and the first group 150 yards down. I dont mind as its public but they get set up being super loud and cussing and throwing stuff. It sounds like two guys get into an argument and honestly it made me a tad nervous. Foward to 6:34am. (Lst is at 6:45-6:46). Two redhead ducks decoy and are settling in my spread. Looks good. If they just hang around for a few minutes this could be a nice start. 6:35am.. bang bang bang! The last group (I think) is blasting away. The two in my spread jump and are gone. 6:40..more shots. 6:45 all is quiet. I hear crazy calling all over and stay quiet. Then the flocks begin to come. I do a few small quacks and I hit the decoy lotto as they come in to my spread. Then a CO stops by and I mentioned the shooting before lst. I cant tell exactly who it was or which group it was in that direction so nothing I am sure came of it, but he was thankful for letting him know. Througout the morning that last group was randomly shooting with nothing in the spread and it even looked at one time like they took a shot at a seagull. Im not one for conflict, but that is really frustating. I try to be respectful of other hunters and read up on etiquette and when jerks do that kind of stuff I wish they would stop hunting and take up bowling. I think they ended up with one or maybe two birds. We happened to limit on reds and also get my first scaup. Regardless I had a great time and always love being out hunting. They surely didnt ruin my day, but need a lesson on how to behave.

Invest in a high powered led bar towards incoming boats. They wont come.

Yeah. I have a led bar on my boat. It was on from 2am until about 5am...then several head lamps and spot flash incoming boats until lst... oh well. I guess thats public for ya. Its disturbing the lack of respect tho for it....people trash it and are jerks and just expect it to stick around like its owed to them or something. I even waded 50 yards out to get a shotgun shell....yet others leave just about anything thrown wherever (likely similar to thier trashed hoarding looking homes)
