My dad has told me that his M1 carbine is only worth about $200. I'm trying to convince him otherwise. It was manufactured by the Inland Division of GM in January 1945. Has flip down safety and adjustable peep. Also has bayonet lug band. From what I've researched it looks to be all original. It's fully functional. We shot 30 rounds through it today (and a great group by the way). Any ideas on value?

Id give him $200 for it bounce

Check Gunbroker for a comparison. There are several variables that can affect value, but an all original wartime M1 is worth several times his estimate.

They have gone up but it's still a limited market for them. I was looking for one for a while and can tell you it's worth more than $200. Is he looking to sell or trade?

He's not tried to get rid of it yet. He just keeps saying they're too common to be worth that much.

They are but so is an SKS and the lessor ones go at $300 or so. I would be interested if he is looking to sell. Pm me when you know.

Some of those can go for big bucks.

If it were me, I'd get it put into shooting condition and enjoy it.

I wanted one for a loooooong time and finally picked one up.

It has to be one of my favorite rifles to play with.

They are light weight, swing fast and you'd swear you were shooting a 10/22.

Friend sold an Inland in 2014 for $600-ish. Seem to have gone up here since then although probably not much. I have loaded roads, empty brass, and loaded tracers left over I could never sell here. bolt

Pass the gravy.

I would not sell it and if dad wants to sell it, give him the $200 to keep it in the family. I would say its probably worth around 500-600 depending on condition of barrel, etc. This is just a guess on my part so it could be up or down on that price.

Keep it. I would not think twice about buying it for $200. Sold on the spot.

I dabble in them and other military arms. That rifle has all the correct parts that I can see. You'd have to remove the stock to check the internals. The stock appears to have been sanded. I could get 700+ for that m1 all day long. Of course barrel wear would be a factor. Just check gun broker or look at the cmp forums in the for sale section.

I'd like one for my primary pig rifle.
