On Monday, my dad was in college station on business, so I had him drop my stock off with derrick at horizon to fix a number of issues. I got the stock and bottom metal for an insanely good price, but the guy who inletted the bottom metal did it with a dremel and a chisel I think. Some of the worst craftsmanship I've ever seen.

After dad dropped it off, he called and told me him and derrick had a great conversation, and he assured me I was in good hands (I already knew that, which was why he got the stock in the first place).

Basically, what he did was mill out and clean up all the horrible inletting, then filled all the space in, reshaped the stock, and painted it to match. He also had to do some other stuff I'm sure (I think I might have new pillars now too, but can't confirm that).

He also patched 2 busted up spots and repainted those areas as well. The stock is the black stock with grey webbing. He rewebbed the entire stock so it would match, and it looks so great.

He also put a rush on it so he would have it done before he left this weekend for the DSC show. He wanted me to be able to pick it up from him instead of having to ship it back. Unbelievable service, and honestly, the price was less than I figured for what they have to do. He is now my go to gunsmith. Exceptional work.

Anyways, here is before and after pictures.

That is quite an improvement. You'd never notice if you didn't already know, and I certainly couldn't have lived with it in its before state.

Yep, wasn't even a question. As soon as I got it, I knew it was getting fixed. But when you trade a $200 Handi rifle for the stock, bottom metal, and a 10rd AI mag, you don't complain. Even with paying for them to fox it, I'm still over $100 ahead on buying it all.

I didn't read the text at first and went straight to the pictures, and the first thing I said was WTF? Had to go back and see it was before and after.

Ha! No, they certainly didn't do the crappy work. They fixed somebody else's screwup.
