Do any of y'all have any experience with this shotgun? I am considering this and the Beretta A300. The Affinity is on sale for $100 cheaper but they are normally the same price. What do y'all think?

Yep, if you do not have a preference whether the gun is inertia driven or gas, shoulder them both and pick the one that fits and points better or you.

Regarding the inertia, I figure it would be smoother and maybe a lighter kick. Are there cons or better pro for the gas system?

Inertia kicks more than gas. But is cleaner, with fewer parts i.e., easier to clean and service.

Keep in mind, inertia guns need to be tight to your shoulder to work properly. If you tend to 'snap shoot' and sometimes pull the trigger before the gun is solid a gas gun would be a better choice. As for Franchi, I have the previous gas model and if the new models are made as well you will be very happy.

Have never done any snap shooting so that shouldn't be a problem. Actually had to look it up. I am all in favor of a gun running cleaner. The kick doesn't really mean anything to me, I have an over under Beretta that gotten me used to hard kicks.

Would the inertia have any problems running light dove loads?

Yep.
I have two Affinity's, a 12 and a 20. They are excellent shotguns and I shoot them very well - because they fit me. I bought an A300 last January knowing it wouldn't fit me because of the stock dimensions and I couldn't shoot it. I sold it and bought a SA-08 Waterfowler, it fits me well, I shoot it well. Bought a Vinci at the same time last year, knew it wouldn't fit me, couldn't shoot it well, sold it and bought a FABARM L4s. I knew the FABARM would fit me and I shoot it well. The picture below was taken before I acquired the Waterfowler and the L4S. I shoot all of the shotguns well except the Browning Maxus and the SA-08 Youth. Kept the Maxus because my son shoots it great and it is his favorite so I gave it to him. The Weatherby is my daughter's. The shotguns I shoot well all have one thing in common, they either came with a 1.5" DAC or I was able to shim them to 1.5". The Beretta and Franchi have different stocks so try both, buy the one that feels best. You should not be looking down at the rib or up at it. Your line of sight should be parallel to the rib. You can change the cast on either one so that shouldn't be an issue.

I only use my Franchi's for hunting dove and quail. Being inertia driven they do recoil noticeably more than my gas guns.

I owned a inertia gun and did not like it. I find gas guns to work just a well. Do you really shoot 500 rounds and not clean your gun? I bet I shoot 60 rounds hunting and clean the gun after the hunt. I would get the gun that fits you the best.

Do you have a 720 or 712? If so and you ever want to sell it, let me know. I had a 720 and foolishly sold it to fund the Maxus. In retrospect it was the favorite shotgun I ever owned.

I've done 500 and more without cleaning. 5 rounds of trap, skeet or sporting clays in a day isn't all that difficult to do.
I put 9600 rounds through an original Beretta Xtrema to see how long it would take to muck up. Started noticing increased recoil at 9600 rounds and decided to finally clean it.
Ammo shot was everything from 1 oz target loads to 3.5" turkey loads.
Sent it packing when the Xtrema II came out with the thinner fore end and wrist. Still have that one. I'll go 1000 rounds or so before cleaning now.

As for the OP's question, I'd vote the Franchi myself. Good, well-made shotguns.

I am starting to lean towards the Franchi myself. I'm going to try and find time today to go and check both out.

BTW that's a nice collection booradley.

My first Benelli went over a year and well over 10,000 rounds without cleaning. I just wanted to see how long it took it to have an issue with cycling. It never did. I finally gave in to peer pressure and cleaned it. I shot that gun for 3 yrs and sold it to a friend who still has it 4 yrs later. Benelli rocks!!!!!!!!!
