Took the boys up for 5 days. They got 4 does quickly and it turned into a bird hunt. They had a great time wing shooting, of all things. Saw more quail this year, than last 10 combined. Reminded me of my youth hunting up there. Maybe, just maybe, the quail are coming back.

Quail were great for us, and there's nothing more fun than snow dove... growing up in Dalhart that was fairly common, even before the December season......

great times with the kids

Good looking boys ya got there. You grew up just a hop, skip and a jump from me, born and raised in Dumas. Still hear.

Thank You

Nice! banana2

I miss our Quail badly. I can still taste them at my grandmothers house, and haven't had one in many years.

Fried a dozen up tonight. There is nothing better than fried quail, mashed taters, and gravy.

Awesome A.B. up I've never shot dove in the snow but have quail. Never realized how much they bled until I saw it on the snow.

This is living! Thanks for sharing that with us. I've got two boys/men and we didn't get to all hunt together this year. Excellent.

Great fun for the boys Keep them out of trouble up

A.B. Have you ever had Blues in that area? Ours (Hardeman county)disappear about 5 year ago and I sure miss seeing them. Blues have been on the decline for years and now are no existent.

Saw the last covey of blues in 2008. Haven't seen one since. I thought they were extinct until the turkey hunt at Matador. Saw several coveys there.

Congratulations on a great hunt. I am from west of Lubbock and your posts reminded me of the 50s when we would go cotton tail hunting after a snow. Hope pheasant are coming back as I also miss our annual trips to the Dumas area.

That is awesome AB, great news on the birds and congrats to y'all having great family time.

I have wanted to try pheasant up there again, only been 3 times in the 90's and it was a total blast, but I have heard over the last 4-5 years that the hunting has been very poor for them.
