I thought you guys might enjoy this.
This old photo of S. B. Witchell,(sitting) a well to do San Antonio business man and his hunting guide is one that my family cherishes.
The hunting guide is Texian Robert Hall, (he is almost difficult to see) my wife’s GGG grandfather. He was one of the original Texas Rangers that fought Indians and Mexicans during the early 1800’s in The Republic of Texas days. He is a true Texas Hero.
Later in life he became known for ranching and hunting, which was his passion. He died in Cotulla in 1899. Picture is probably 1880ish.

That was not a "trophy" but more a lunch meal along the trail.


I have seen that dillers are a prized trophy by some out-of-state people. Just like they like javis and hogs more than we do.
