Was talking with a customer today about a deer he had shot. Pretty nice deer if I might say so,but the discussion turned to age. The customer said this was his first year to hunt but he had been watching this deer for 20 years!!!!! lol444 yes you read that correctly. So by his figures the deer should be about 22 years old. I'm not joking at all. I tried to explain deer aging but he was dead set on his beliefs. It was a good laugh on the rid home. I have never heard anyone say like that before. Just thought I would share. Has anyone else ever heard any crazy just plain ridiculous stuff like that before?

I would have told him..."can you imagine how good he would have been next year?".

You mean other than the guy (seems every lease has at least one) that's never missed and shoots everything at 400 with a .223, in the ear?

I work the gun counter at Dick's part time for some extra spending money and a nice discount- but the stories I hear..... I need to write 'em down and make a book one day. According to what I hear, most deer in Texas are taken with head shots at 400 yards. Never heard any 20 year old deer, though- I guess they must be over 18 to be legal to shoot? roflmao

I'm going to post a sign at our place that there will be no hunting for the next 18 - 20 years so the deer can get some good age to them! I knew we were shooting ours to young!

I made the mistake of going in there to look around one day. There was two SMU kids in there talking about which guns they have and why they will only shoot O/U shotguns because semi autos are to cheap. Then one says to the other, you need to shoot my 300BO with the 10 inch barrel. The gun salesman asked him how long he waited for his tax stamp, he replied "I didn't pay taxes, I bought it used." eek2

That would have been hilarious. Wish I would have thought of that. Was trying to hard not to bust out laughing.

I hope to work the gun counter at a sporting goods store after I retire from my career.

It will be a constant source of stories to tell.
