Family will /trust is in place. Hard copy and e-file copy of collection with original bills of sale, pics, etc... locked in safe.

I told the wife to give it all to the niece and nephew; best way to annoy my sister.

Can we be friends? And how's your health?

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

the BLUE BOOK OF GUN VALUES can be WAY off either way, auctions may be good for collectable type, but mass production is going to be what the market dictates at the time of disposable. I have production guns, some semi custom, and some 100yr old collectables, what something is worth today and what it will be worth in 10-20yrs???

If I had any guns when I die everyone would already know what guns to keep and send the rest to Rock Island Auction Co.

To check Prices they would have already been shown how to look at Gun Broker Past Auctions it gives you a good idea of the Pulse of the market.

That is what I would do If I had guns and kids that wanted anything to do with them.

Most of my guns will be either given away or sold before I die.
As I get older I use less guns so why wait and burden the family. About 75% of my guns were purchased as investments, so why not sell them and use the money for retirement? The others I will leave to grandkids if they want them.
I do keep a current value of the investment collector guns so if something happens to me before old age takes me they can sell them.

My guns are not monetary investments. They are investments into my children and a way of life that I believe is important. My sons and daughter all not only know how to use them, but like to shoot and hunt. They know which ones have significant monetary or sentimental value, and they each have their favorites. Some of those favorites overlap. At any rate, my wife can keep whatever she wants. Some of the guns belong to specific children. All the rest they can haggle and figure it out, with my wife moderating. I am not worried about it.

All of my fathers guns and some of my grandfathers guns came to me. Some have and will stay unchanged for sentimental reasons. Some have been modified, a few that didn't really matter to either my father or I have been sold. I know he would be fine with that. My feeling, and pretty sure his as well, is that it belongs to them now, to do with as they see fit. As long as someone is using them and appreciated them, I don't care, with a very few exceptions. There are about 2-3 I have told them if they sell, I will come back from the grave and haunt them.

NFA items are on a trust, and already taken care of legally.

My only son is 17 now. Once he is out on his own I will start gifting him my guns according to his wants and needs and a safe place to store them. This should be a good incentive for him to get a nice safe as soon as he has a place to put it.

I inherited several guns from his grandfather(my wife's father). These will be among the first to go to him. This year he took a small buck with his grandfather's 1967 Browning BAR .270.

I'll be dead, I don't care. But really, the hardest part is going to be the transition from what Ive told my wife I paid for them, to what they are actually worth. I've got to do it from the dead, otherwise she'll kill me.
