I'm paying a pretty good amount for a hunt here for Nilgai cow.. This place has no reviews so I am just wanting to know if someone has hunted here before. It's located in Raymondville, TX.. I've never had this type of meat to eat or ever been there. If you could give me some insight on what it's like to eat this type of meat and what the ranch is like, please let me know.

Hope someone else can chime in, I haven't hunted the Yturria per say, but I do hunt at Norias, which is just North of there. You can expect lots of sand, mesquite and oak motts. It is located on the coastal plain, so it is going to be flat, (You may well encounter large sand dunes) and could very well be wet. You will be hunting in great Nilgai country, and will find Nilgai meat to be dark red, of mild flavor, and quite delicious as steak, roast or sausage. Best of luck. I am sure it will be a hunt you will treasure, and let us know how it turns out.

I can't help you with the ranch, but like pointer said Nilgai meat is wonderful. They are big animals and you will get a lot of meat. I personally would get as many steaks as you can from the Nilgai. The meat is so good that the idea of making sausage out of them seems waste full.....at least to me. Enjoy the hunt for these really cool animals.

Thanks gentleman! I heard the meat is awesome and that's one of the main reasons I'm doing the hunt. It's with a company called pierce trophy hunts. I am trying to find reviews on it but there are none out there. If seen a few videos on YouTube but that's about it.

I hunted whitetail there this year. In 1 day saw over 100 nilgai. The lodge, staff, and guides where all great. You will have a good time. They said most shots are less than 100 yds.

As far as the ranch goes, there is nothing to worry about. If somebody said you where going to the King Ranch to shoot a trophy buck, would you have any doubts? NO... You shouldn't have any doubts hunting the Yuttaria either, its loaded with free ranging animals

I just booked their as well with pierce trophy hunts for 1 Oryx and 1 Nilgai, they just opened it up to commercial hunting very recently i believe thats why theirs not many reviews, Brent seems like a stand up guy on the phone. The horn, fin, and feather lodge appears to be very nice.

The Yturria has lots and lots of Nilgai. I once saw a group of 20~ mature bulls running together there. Never seen anything like it.
I have friends who hunt there annually and they have never been disappointed.

I am hunting the weekend of Valentine's Day, Friday thru Sunday.. I've never done anything this big before so I am just really nervous.. I will furnish a report when I have finished. I didn't dought this place would be an awesome experience I guess I just needed reassurance because I've have high hopes and wanted to keep them high..

There are TONS of Nilgai on the Yturria. A friend of mines dad hunted there about a month ago and got a real nice bull that went somewhere around 500 on the hoof. When I lived down in the valley I would always see Nilgai on the Yturria driving by on my way up north.

If Im not mistaken isnt the Yturria actually 3 different ranches with two of them being high fenced? I hunted Frank Yturria's ranch, the low fence part, about 15 years ago, once for a bull and the other time for a cow. It was loaded with Nilgai. We all did spot and stalk each trip and all had our animals on the ground the first day each time. We hunted with All Seasons Guide Service and Mike Powell was our guide. Good luck, you will see a ton of animals besides what you are targeting.
