So is it that red meat is bad for you or is it that super fatty red meat is bad for you?

I use almost exclusively venison and feral pork cooking at home. If its beef its a steak or brisket. My MIL doesn't like deer meat, so bought a few pounds of ground beef to make chili with for our family Mexican food Christmas then plans changed and we cooked a ham and traditional sides. I made a meatloaf with the ground beef last night and pulled it out of the oven 3 times to dump grease off. With venison I never have grease cook out. I was using 80/20 ground beef.

So is all red meat supposed to be bad? or just stuff like the ground beef?

the only time i hear about it being bad is if you eat to much of it and especially off the grill...i guess i normally dont buy a lot of meat that has a lot of fat and if i did i just drain it....my great grandmother died in 2002 at age 101 after having eaten that kinda stuff her entire life soooo...well i guess you could say it finally killed her lol

Look for fat in this. I'll have to add oil to my fajitas tonight.

Try cooking another piece like this -

Grilled first, then foil wrapped and placed back on the turned off grill to finish, man it was tender and tasty.

FRESH / whole red meats not so bad - anything with preservatives more so (includes too much smoked meats).
TOO Big portions not so good - but that doesn't matter if it's red meat, chicken, or pie.

All said, I'd rather die fat & happy than of starvation!

Oh I eat no worries. Im not in danger of being mistaken for a health nut or a vegan or anything crazy either.

I just always hear about how bad red meat is and im wondering is it red meat or is it the large amounts of fat associated with beef/red meat?

Ever try to sneak a little ground venison in there?

If you mean on the MIL yes. Ive made meatballs before and she will eat fried backstrap but that's about it. Venison is about all I eat at home.
