Really considering it. Anyone ever try this or have any suggestions? Year round hunt, $75 tag and $160 license.

What are you thinking about when you say DIY? You planning on bringing your own tracking dogs?

No just putting in the miles everyday in units known to be densely populated. Ive never hunted em and dont know if its pissin in the wind without dogs.

Super difficult but I know it's been done.
I do lots of glassing and use predator calls.

Without dogs, you are going to have to get EXTREMELY lucky. You can put in lots of miles and glass for crows or ravens on a kill. If you can find a fresh kill, you will know that a lion is at least in the area and then you can do some calling. If kill is really fresh, you can sit on the kill in hopes that the lion returns.
I am planning to leave Thursday for AZ and hunt them with hounds. Of all the hunting that I do, this is my favorite. Good luck.
Adios,
Gary

Just go out with a metal detector! You'll see one... Might even find a nugget while you're at it! I don't know that hunting is allowed in all areas but it seems they're all over the place when you're not after em. Typical!
