I was thinking of purchasing a gun, but my wife was convicted of a crime and sentenced to six months in jail. Does this now mean a gun cannot even be int the house? I was going to ask for more information but since I was here I thought I would ask here as well
me purchasing a gun has nothing to do with her crime or committing crime

It should have zero bearing on you, and her being convicted of a crime unless felony then she should be good buying a gun herself.
If it is part of her release or probation was no guns allowed in the house (which I doubt would apply in your case) then it would be up to her to avoid that clause.
I have worked with a few guys on felony parole in the past, I always carried my pistol with me in the vehicle when they were around, I never let them know it........

Six months sounds more like a Class A or B Misdemeanor. Typically these don't come with the no possession of firearms stipulation. Might want to check her sentencing requirements. If she is on probation in addition to the jail time, she can talk to her PO and they can advise you better. At the least, you could invest in a safe or lock box to keep it in.
As far as actually purchasing the firearm, you should have no issue in regards to her conviction and sentencing.

Good advice here. If you can legally buy a gun, then you can buy a gun. It's all about her rights to be in presence of your legal gun.
I would ask a lawyer.

So you're saying you do not currently own a firearm?!?!? Does not compute.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Find a good attorney and ask your questions. Good luck.

I agree if you personally are able to purchase a firearm and pass the background check then you should be fine.
