Has anyone had experience with their new grinder? I'm looking at getting one and know their 1st model had great reviews. Can anyone also recommend the minimum HP I'll need? This would be for 3-5 deer per year.

We do 7-9 deer a year with one of their cheaper models. It doesn't take much.

Personally I wouldn't go under 3/4 hp, but YMMV.

I got a lesson on this new grinder a cpl weeks ago.

I have the Cabela's 3/4 HP Commercial Grade Grinder.

Apparently there have been some issues with the Commercial Grade grinders getting warm on the neck and gumming up. The exhaust on the commercial grade grinders blows twd the neck causing it to warm up fast than it should which in turn causes the meat to gum up.

This is the reason behind the newly designed Carnivore. The motor blows out of the back side and the unit comes with a freezer pack for the neck to keep it cold.

The Cabela's employee informed me that I could bring in my grinder and exchange it without any questions asked if I would like. I have thought about doing this and upgrading to the 1hp. This same employee told me that the carnivore is the best grinder that Cabela's has ever made.
