A hunt based on only trophies being taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be,time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, animals, and fish that live there. -Fred Bear

Yall might of put a small dent in the population. Pretty neat little critters. I've called up a couple around Rocksprings and Ballinger...

Dang....that's a bunch 'O ringtails!
I had no idea they existed is such numbers anywhere.
Growing up...I hunted some property (800 acres) that my family owned in Goldthwaite, where we would occasionally see a ringtail or two, but that was about it. Actually saw a badger on that property as well. Anyway...a ringtail was considered a novelty for us. Lots of civet cats though.
Spartans ask not...how many, but where!

What do you shoot them for? I really have no idea, we don't see them in our parts but once every five or so years.

They get into blinds and crap all over the floor. We had one in a blind once and the outfitter wanted to shoot it when it climbed out the window onto the roof. He used my Rossi, .357 mag, to blow a hole in the corner of the roof. Blamed the gun. Ringtail came back to peek over the edge and when I shot him with the Rossi he flew about 4 feet straight into the air. Except for being unsanitary they really don't hurt much stuff. Nowhere near as high on the shoot on sight list as 'coons.

What do you shoot them for? I really have no idea, we don't see them in our parts but once every five or so years. Cause we hunt them just like everything else. You can eat them or keep them to mount. either way
