I am pretty new to duck hunting but have been really enjoying it this year. I want to be able to go out more before the season is over. What has been your experience duck hunting in the afternoon or evening and what are some tips to be successful?

Birds tend to show up right after legal. If ducks are roosting in the spot, it will move them. Some guys are successful. I never had any luck, and only have tried it on last day of season for fear of pushing birds out.

I never hunt a roost for this reason.

Afternoons could be stellar on windy, rainy and dark overcast days

On sunny days, not so much as they will poor in 20 min. After legal.

Depends where you are. As mentioned before, evening coast hunts are dependable.

Afternoon coast hunts can be awesome. Freshwater it's hit or miss. I haven't had much success unless there was a big front rolling through.

As previously stated most evening hunts will leave you frustrated because birds will come pouring in right after legal shooting time. At least that has been my experience

Your worst day of hunting is always better than your best day at work
