Probably. Their MO is to buy property, slaughter all non indiginous species (this begins with buttering up politicians and other influential folks who support their land grab mentality).

Then it becomes a free for all slaughter with state employees shooting every non-indiginous animal and feeding the buzzards for the most part.

At some point years down the road they'll start public hunts. Unless they can figure out some ecological sensitivity that would allow them to "justify" keeping it their own private playground.

I highly doubt the State will go in and attempt to remove all the exotics. That would be almost impossible even if by air.
Since it is in close relation to part of the Aransas to the North, part of Matagorda to the South and The Nature Conservacy is involved, I would bet my money it will either have some type of re-introduction programs for native species, wetland protection, and or coastal prairie restorations going on within its boundaries.

Actually every taxpayer has a dog in this fight.

Nope! I live under a bridge. Get my internet from Starbucks. Have a "will work for beer sign."

Or it could end up as a "Case Study" like this facility:

I'm a conservative. I don't think it's a governments responsibility to provide recreation.

Yeah, I'm a conservative too.

I don't think the state bought this land to provide the public with more hunting/recreation grounds, I'd think the primary purpose of this land acquisition was habitat preservation. TPWD may not be the best steward of this land, but they certainly won't be the worst, either, as subdivision and development are always a possibility. The possibility of it be used for public hunting is just a byproduct of preserving the land from development, etc.

I believe that since they are not native here they are not protected. They were brought here for hunting purposes.

That is a common misconception. It can get you charged with a felony.
