Well finally connected yesterday. After hunting the past few years in the panhandle, I switched leases to SW Young County. I was starting to regret my decision, I had ton of night time pics of decent deer, but had very few of deer during shooting times. I had even fewer encounters with deer while sitting in the stand. Two weeks ago, I passed a three year old Nine pt that in my opinion needed another year or two. Other than him, I had not seen any other shooters. Fast forward to yesterday morning. I was sitting in my usual stand and at 0700 a small four point came in and went straight to the feeder. A few minutes later the big ten came in but I noticed he was walking funny. So I glassed him and noticed he had a wound on the lower part of rib cage. I originally was gonna let him walk until I noticed the wound and him walking irregularly. (I know some will say he would have made it smile But I made the decision to go ahead and harvest him) A few seconds later he was down. I waited my time to make sure he expired and walked over to him. I looked at the wound and it appeared he had be shot low on the rib cage with a pass through shot. The wound looked fresh and could have been from the previous day. I also noticed he was a fighter. He had numerous scares and other places that were still healing from fighting. Sorry couldn't get the pics turned right.

Rebel, good job. I too hunt in SW Young county near Murray..Whereabouts are you at? You're right, sightings have been few and far between this season, lots, lots of greenery out that way. I missed a 130-140" before Thanksgiving and have been kicking myself since. Good job again.

Great trophy and you did him a favor to boot. Congratulations. You paid your hunting dues this year, for sure.

DQ, I'm off 3109 between Eliasville and Graham. I agree too much greenery and plenty of water. The deer don't have to travel making it hard to locate them much less pattern them.

Thx everyone for the compliments. I was beginning to think it wasn't gonna happen for me this year. Regardless of the outcome its been a great year. With the new lease being closer to the house, I've been out more this year than I ever have. I even convinced the wife to come out a couple of times. It was a 4 1/2 hr drive to previous lease and no amenities. At this lease we have water and electricity for the trailer. I also lucked out and got awesome landowners who help out a lot.

Yup, being only 2-2.5 hours sure beats 4.5 hours. I've heard that is a good area, even some small hills out there. Nice harvest..
