Going to buy one of these two scopes for my new weatherby 300 magnum. Just arrived in time for Christmas. Took 6 months to make this custom rifle. Any suggestions on one of these scopes? Would appreciate any help.

I'd look through both before buying. I looked through a couple of HD5s in Cabela's and wasn't terribly impressed, especially after looking through some Meopta glass. Again, that was in the store, so they may perform better in natural light, and that was just my preference. Others really like the HD5 glass. I also went on to buy a basic 3-9x Conquest for one of my rifles, so I'm not anti-Zeiss by any means. Once you're in that price range, you also might want to look at Leica.

A final thought: the Dallas Safari Club convention takes place in a couple of weeks, and all of the major optics vendors will be there. It's an unmatched opportunity to see the very best for yourself.

Honestly for that rifle I would see if cameraland has any of the demo zeiss victory HT's they had left. normally 2k marked down to $999. If not id go with the swaro. Call cameraland and Ill bet they can get you a z3 in the $850 range.

Or eurooptic had demos of the zeiss conquest HD 3-15 with plex reticle for $650 the other day.

I have no experience with the Zeiss. In my opinion, the 4-12x50 Swarovski is hard to beat for a set it and forget it hunting scope.

I bought the last Zeiss Victory HT from cameraland the other day, still waiting on it. Neil said one guy ordered 5 of them.
