This.

Much ado about nothing. Obama has done this many times. While the easily gulled freak out about this and beat their caved-in little chests, he sneaks in something just as bad or worse in some other area, un-noticed.

Yes,SJ Lee....she's the one talking about the flag we have on Mars....genius is right!

I have read this dang thing three times and not being a lawyer, I'd say it's a total ban, but that grandfathered part has me in a bit of doubt...maybe hope a better word. I doubt it will pass and even if it does, we're in the best location we can be in. A law has already been passed to nullify any unlawful executive order or law that infringes on the 2nd as we know it in Texas. What remains to be seen is will our lawmakers here adhere to that new law or bow to the feds.

DeckArtist,

It won't ever pass. If it did, the grandfathering as it is written only applies to the owner at the time the law is passed. You cannot transfer legal ownership as part of an estate. Once you die, the gun becomes contraband and must be turned in - otherwise your heirs become "criminals". In this way the gun grabbers allow the existing weapons to be around for the current generation and then think they will automagically be turned in upon death of the owners...yeah surrendering has worked out well in Australia too....

As part of an estate, the Executor of a will should be able to transfer ownership as long as it is done through a lisenced dealer. It's obvious that, by leaving the lisenced dealer part in there, they are attempting to stop the sale of these weapons at gun shows, through forums like this, etc.. They want to be able to track them better.

I just read a very interesting piece written by a lawyer that says the new 'guidelines' are nothing more than a re-statement of existing laws. Then I went to the ATF 'do I need a license to sell guns' link and sure enough, almost verbatim about what he said at the town hall. So really he just restated existing laws. What that means is the talks he had with the Atty. General and others revealed he really cannot legally change a thing. He can however enforce current laws and I have no worries about that since I am not a dealer of any kind.

I think that what has to be considered in this is the political dynamic. The anti gun agenda has been stalled for years and they're looking for the least bit of traction they can find.

Yield NOT, not a millimeter!

I was thinking about all of this, a little bit ago as I oiled some gun parts.

(Rumor is that it is really just re-labeled Rem-Oil.)

All it takes for something like this to pass is more folks voting for a Democrat.

A change in the makeup of the Supreme Court that will lead to a majority deciding the Second Amendment applies only to state militias (National Guard) and not to individuals.

We'd (Texas) would have the largest National Guard / Militia ever seen by the feds. I'm sure Gov. Abbott would make everyone with a firearm a lifetime member.
