I got with Colby at K2 Firearms in Windthorst and had one built. I have a thing for 700 actions, and I wanted a creedmoor I could comfortably carry in the field, with a suppressor, as a hunting rifle. After some discussion about specifics, here is what we came up with and I could not be happier!! I had the Hawk Hill barrel, but it had to be turned down to suit my wants. It has a trued action, a Timney trigger, a MagPul Hunter stock, a bolt knob installed, it's completely Cerecoated, and has a SilencerCo break for the Omega that I will have the stamp for any day now. I have had custom rifles built before and been disapointed. This was not the case here at all! Colby is very laid back, easy to get along with, does GREAT work, and came in MUCH lower than I had budgeted for. I won't get specific, but it was VERY affordable!! I had the Konus optic. I know it looks high, but I have a HUGE head and need it a bit up to get proper cheek weld on this stock. I took it out Saturday and it shot 1/4MOA with factory 140gr A-Max Here are some pics... Thanks!! Matt

yea, yea, yea...I know. I thought I had XTR's that would work, but I had low and extra high. So I used what I had that would work. I will replace them with some nicer ones quickly. Thanks!! Matt

I like it.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Matt I've got a set of "high" Talley Tactical 30mm rings I could sell you. In a new scope they could be too high for me.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll be OK. I'm in the wholesale biz. Because of the latest craziness, the office has suspended employee purchases. I should be able to get some good ones from work shortly. Thanks!! Matt

Nice. What do you think of the Magpul stock and bottom metal? Is it actually bottom metal or bottom plastic? I have the 10/22 Magpul stock and am secretly hoping Remington announces a 6.5 or 260 SPS Tactical at SHOT so I can drop one in a Magpul 700 stock.

I love short barrel rifles! Question of the hour! Looks good!
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

jeeper, I like the stock just fine. It beds in a solid aluminum block. I was worried that the forend wouldn't be stiff enough for a loaded bipod, but it works just fine. It is considerably lighter than my Bell & Carlson Medalist, H S Precision Sporter, and AI AX chassis I have on other rifles. The bottom metal is plastic. The mag loads easily and feeds well. The trigger guard is plenty stiff and the mag release works as designed. The mag is a little stiff going in, but not bad. I did have to take a tiny bit off of the trigger guard to allow the flat shoe on the Timney trigger to fit. A curved one would drop right in. I simply prefer the flat and I thought it better to remove some of the trigger guard than try to shorten the trigger shoe.
Gone & Tac Cow, It is an 18.5" Hawk Hill, 1 in 8 twist, turned to .88 at the muzzle.
Thanks!! Matt

that is a nice gun it is something i would be able to shoot comfortably only issue is the wife would flip and I would be living in my truck if i bought something like that all my other guns more or less look the same bolt actions wood stock with 4 synthetic she doest know it when i bring a new one home and not tell he that would be hard to talk my way out of you have a very nice gun and i heard the 6.5 is a very accurate round 243 with some trigger work and bolt job we will see why it can do net week when i gt it back then i will have the barrel fuss bedded piller method it was shooting 5/8 after break in was the best i could get out of a fixed bench rested so i am thinking it will be around .5 when they are done the trigger bull was albs and i dont know what they are doing to the bolt but he said it would make a huge improvement they told me but i dont remember what it was. all do know is the smith is doing i at cost for me so i wont have much in it the money he saved me i am picking up a 270 that i cant shoot its a howa 1500 270 its only a few years old they are letting me have it for a little more then they paid the i was told was and older guy he broke it in and never shot it after then do to health reasons but i would give both my guns for that on

Man that's sweet, been toying with the idea of a short barreled 6.5 as a truck gun!
If the stores closed up tomorrow, a man should have enough Ammunition, Bic lighters,Tabasco sauce, Whiskey, and freeze dried Coffee to last him and his family until the casket. Johnny Loco
