On a Savage 10T, does anyone have the proper torque specs on the action screws? The manual and their website just says to tighten the front screw first and the rear screw last until they are "secure." That seems pretty ambiguous to me. Additional insight anyone?

The only opinion on that that I recall was somebody saying "20-25 inch-pounds" for the Savage. - I can't say whether they were right or wrong. You might try taking the inch-pound driver with you to the range, then try different settings to see what works best for your particular stock. I remember reading about one shooter who tried this and said that he was able to discover a torque setting for his rifle that made a dramatic difference. It's kind of hard to come up with a generic setting that is going to be best for squishy plastic stocks, rock-hard fiberglass stocks, and wooden stocks that may lie somewhere in-between, all at the same time. Keep asking around though, and I am sure that someone will give you a firm opinion.

I need to burn some rounds for a barrel break-in and as soon as that's done I'll spend some quality bench time tweaking on my groups.

Nothing wrong with that. My Howa seems to respond well to that system.

Yep, the 10T. Christmas present from Santa. Need to pull the stock to adjust the Accutrigger down, hence the torque question. May end up switching out the trigger if I don't like it, but figured I might as well give it a try.

A good place to ask anything about Savage rifles, and pick up a few tips: Savage Shooters Thanks, found exactly what I was looking for in the FAQ's on that site. According to Savage, after seating the action against the recoil lug, alternate tightening the two action screws, beginning with the forward screw, in 10 in/lb increments until both screws are between 40 - 45 in/lbs. I still plan to take my torque driver to the range and play with the tightness some, but this gives me a great starting point. Looking forward to deer season wrapping up and getting some calm days for range testing. I really do appreciate the help guys.
