How many of you corn year round. Being on such a small track I think I am going to this year. May also build some cottonseed bins. My thought process is that they will become more accustomed to the food being there.

I do corn year round but we run a small place and not sure it helps all that much. But if the neighbors don't, I need all the help I can get.

My feeders never stop unless the batteries go bad, and generally replace them before they go bad.

I don't know if I will ever go to protein. We are only 10 acres and hopefully one day the 10 acres next to us also. I may do a good plot down the road. I wanted to plant an acre next year but don't know if I will have the funds to bring in soil to cover my rocky base

I feed corn from a spin feeder and free choice protein year round in 3 feed pens. I turn corn down after the season is over to 1 sec twice per day.

We re-acquired a lease late this summer that we lost a couple years ago due to a poor relationship between the lease president and the landowners. We always fed year round before and always saw good numbers of deer every season. While we've had feeders going since early September, it hasn't been enough to get our deer sightings back to what it was.

What we found surprising is how it appears the hogs had their run of the place during the two years the lease sat idle. When we had feeders going, we hunted them for hogs during the off season as an attempt to control them. Looking back now, it seems obvious the hogs did just as well without them, and our off season hunting did keep them from "digging in" so to speak. We kept cameras at each feeder throughout the year and when they showed high levels of hog activity, lead poison (bullets) was applied.

I feed year round. If they need something to eat I try to provide it. It really does not cost that much and keeps the deer on my property.

And once a day is often plenty.

We feed year round as well. The bonus is that it keeps the hogs coming in for added hunting opportunities.

I keep 3 corn feeders going after season ends, set them for mornings only. Start using 2 free choice protein feeders in February, and keep them full thru September.

Thank you...thank you very much

I try to feed at least some corn year round. Same reason as the fells mentioned (to keep them adjusted to it), but there are other reasons as well, constant access to corn helps keep the stomach flora adjusted to the grains.

I always feed the cleanest, freshest corn I can get and have returned crappy corn rather than feed it several times. Alwasy feed the best corn you can get, not just the "cheapest" any sign of mold and send it to the dump, or back to where you bought it.

Good things to read up on, may have spelled them wrong. These things may/may not kill your deer, but they can make them sick in the right scenarios.
Aflotoxins in corn
Enetrotoxemia in deer
Acidosis in deer

Same exactly with me, 3 feeders also. I have three 650 lb corn feeders and will knock it down to a 1-2 second spin after the season. This will last well over 6 months + , so I don't have to keep filling feeders all year long but it keeps the deer familiar. If I'm feeling really cheap I'll have 1 or 2 feeders spin only in the evening for 1 second and the other only in the morning for 1 second.

We have a lot of exotics so we drop our feeders back from twice at five seconds morning and evening (20 seconds total a day) to just five seconds morning and evening (10 seconds total per day) after next weekend. We have four 1,000 pound All Seasons corn feeders. These will last about four months with 20 seconds per day fed and eight months when feeding 10 seconds per day. We also feed a 50 pound sack of corn for every two days of hunting from the road feeder. Can't say any of it goes to waste.

We filled the protein feeders in mid-October and again earlier this month.

We've taken about 27 animals since bow season opened.

I feed year round, but turn them down a little after deer season. See lots of deer, but the turkeys and doves stay around, too.

I would run it year round so that you don't have to worry about starting over at the beginning of the season

This.
We hunt year round so it makes sense to keep the feed going. This year nobody went to the ranch in June or July and when we went in August the feeders had been dry for about a week. The first day we filled them I think we had just about every deer in the area on our place. Had some pics with 20-30 deer at one feeder. Sat at another one and saw 20 whitetail. They was HUNGRY.

I'm changing things up this year and will be feeding corn all year. I'm also going to start feeding protein as well. Hope this increases what I am seeing.

I'm going to feed all year. We've got about 20 pigs/piglets coming in nearly every night to my feeder. Gunna kill some of those bastages this year.
