Lpoking at a lease out there for next year. Don't know much other than its between 6 and 7k acres right now. It's a whole property that were talking about leasing as a group. How are the deer out that way? Any free range exotics or turkey out there? Like I said I don't know much about the lease other than our existing lease manager/close friend throwing the idea around about us getting on that one.

Chance, what part of Reagan County?
There are Turkey but no exotics that I am aware of. Rocker B ranch has antelope but that's all I know of.

Watch out. Had a place about 7 miles east of Big Lake. The pumper hunted the place all the time. The lease manager would not do anything. The pumper a friend of the land owner.

I'm told it's west of big lake. I'm going to find out more info today. Our lease manager is working out there right now is how he found this place. We are losing our lease outside uvalde this year which stinks pretty bad.

I have a friend hunting west of Big Lake and south of Best. Lots of deer, turkey and a few javelin. Scout the place out. The drought a few years ago. Lowered the deer count Like all of Texas

I've hunted big lake since 08. Deer numbers are coming back. Some really good deer running around out there. Like other have stated the drought took a pretty good toll on the numbers in 2010 and 2011. I really enjoy hunting there.

I love Reagan County. I work a lot in that area, and I've always wanted to hunt it. There's some solid deer, there. In the SW part of the county, you start to run into mule deer. The area between Big Lake, Rankin, and Midland has more quail than I've ever seen. Some properties have blues around every corner, literally. Same with rabbits. Lots of critters out that way.

Yes, lots of quail. More than I can remember. We were on the Rocker B for about 2 hours over Thanksgiving and saw about 8-10 covey.

Depends on how far west of town you end up. Hunting will get worse (in general) as you go west for big deer.
