I'm sure many of you already knew this but thought I'd pass along. No surprise the Glock 19 was chosen. I wonder what their normal modifications will be.

I guess they could not afford the XDm bolt

Why wouldn't they use a full sized pistol??

Best compromise between size, weight, and capacity.

I guess someone forgot to tell those SEALs how ineffective the 9mm is... bolt

They carry a lot of gear and the pistol is secondary weapon.

"Your pistol is to fight your way back to the rifle you should have never walked away from in the first place."

Now I don't know if Col. Cooper said that or not, but it's a good quote. I think it applies directly to hunting just about anything larger than a rabbit.

That's an awesome quote. I gotta remember that one.

I've said it for years, loves me my glock 19. No matter what anyone says about caliber, size, firing mechanism, no one can convince me that glock 19 specifically doesn't belong on the list of all time great guns.

Cheap, light, effective, durable and reliable. I'm sure the top brass will try to block this decision.

It's an easy choice- cost vs. reliability and ease of use. Glock's not a sexy pistol, but it WORKS!!!

So an extra two ounces is really gonna matter? Why would you want less ammo, less grip, and less sight radius?

I dunno. I don't have a direct line to MARSOC.

Special Operators practice constantly. Their 9MM ammo is pretty hot (submachine gun fodder) so I believe a change of recoil spring or the addition of a second recoil spring will be utilized. Glock 19 is about the perfect size for most hands.

They've (DEVGRU) ran a suppressed Sig 9 & HK .45 for years. I wonder why the switch?

Probably the same reason for the 5.56mm vs. the 7.62mm. A pound of 9mm rounds is more rounds than a pound of .45 ACP.

I guess I will have to try the new Gen 4 Glock 17...just never liked the grip angle and wish they would add a new model with the angle similar to the 1911. No doubt Glock is a simple and elegant design...pure genius.

I just added a PRP Ultimate Match Trigger in my XDm 9mm and it is sweeeeet so am torn with the idea of yet another platform...trying to consolidate...damned expensive hobby!

I think you missed the part where I said they were already using a Sig 9mm so why change to a Glock 9mm?

If this is going to replace the sig sauer p226, i feel like it's a mistake. But, operators from all branches of the service have been shooting glocks for a while in Afghanistan...

I suspect their P226 Sigs are worn out.

Everyone knows the only reason anyone carries a pistol with them while deployed is so they don't have to carry an M4 to the Chowhall, MWR, Gym, and anywhere else a weapon may be required haha.

Truth. I had the opportunity to train with the Frog men for a few weeks last year. They train hard, fast, and for long hours. Their pistol is their last ditch effort. They all carried the P229, the midsize Sig, but never touched it

Never liked the grip angle. Sig, M&P and 1911 fit me my hand much better.

I have as much combat experience as Barney Fife, but... I know some teams guys and this is my opinion based on what I have learned from those guys. A pistol is the last resort, the end of the line, last thought you have kind of weapon for a teams guy. That said the pistol must operate and more rounds is a good thing. Glock sure fits that bill. And ounces do matter. I'm a Glock guy too.
