I took a disabled friend out last night to see if we could drop some hogs. This was the only one that showed up and I think he caught my sent from when I filled the feeder. He circled down wind of the feeder and then decided it was not to his liking. The first shot was just below where it should have been but anchored him so I put a few extra in the back of his neck.

He circled down wind of the feeder and then decided it was not to his liking. I have watched hogs and deer do this several times this season, three times which were hogs. I had not been to the feeder and winds were favorable. All I can figure is that they probably were not that interested to start with, or something else was going on that I did not recognize. In a couple of cases, I could tell that the animals were skiddish. In a couple, it appeared that they were just sort of checking out things and then continuing their night's meanderings - they would come in, get a few nibbles (staying less only seconds), then continue on... We still have plenty of acorns and in the case of the deer, the new growth on the food plots seem to be of much greater interest.

Last night we saw hogs heading our way in the field behind the feeder but they never came in. There is just too much for them to eat right now. Especially with this warm weather.
