I have kids I want to take out hunting small game, rabbits and squirrels, but having trouble finding where. When I was a kid in Iowa they were everywhere but in Texas I can't find them. Out on public land I saw not a single rabbit and squirrels were few and far between. Any ideas? I live in Tarrant county and not going to drive 4 hours to kill rabbits laugh

I cant wait for the end of deer season, going to be slaying some rabbits! Cna't really help you on where to go, I'm sure somebody has a place they wouldn't mind you hunting rabbits on.

Click on the link. http://tpwd.texas.gov/huntwild/hunt/public/annual_public_hunting/

There is a map booklet you can download and an interactive locator map. You will need to buy the $48 Annual Public Hunting permit to hunt those properties.

Good luck.

Used to be a healthy population of squirrels up at LBJ Grasslands in Decatur. Once deer season winds down there is not a whole of people out there, used not not be anyway. Haven't hunted there in years.
