I have a pack of dogs coming to my feeder every morning between 4-5 as evidenced by my game cam pics and my own eyes this weekend, probably explains why I haven't seen even a pig this year, anyone else ever dealt with this? Suggestions?

I know your problem....find the owner and have a talk with them explaining what will happen if they can't keep their dog on their land.

Just hate to shoot them, I have no way to know where they are coming from to talk to anyone, I did shoot on Friday morning to scare them off but they came right back in the next day.

Does your county have a nuisance animal control or county pound? Call the sheriff.

It sucks to have to shoot a dog, at least for me it does, but sometimes that's the only way to get rid of them. In our lease in Marshall we had a pack of 8-10 dogs that were very aggressive, would storm camp while we were napping, and destroy anything no bolted down. They were a mix of breeds, some large some medium sized, but all were aggressive when they encountered a human. We called the sheriff and he said best to shoot them. So we did, figured if the elderly land owner was ever out here when they showed up she would be in for something bad

One thing you best remember, if the dog is no threat to you, or your property, you could end up with possibly serious legal issues. Speak to a neighbor about it and you will likely be blamed for every missing dog for 100 miles. This is probably one of the most sensitive issues for LO's and hunters, on both sides of the "fence".

Some dog owners look at their dogs like they do their kids, "They can do no wrong", so....

IMO, you have 3 options
1, Contact the Sheriff and/or GW, both know the laws, but I will bet they will say you cant do a thing if they are "just passing through" doing no harm. BTW, many county animal control offices will let you borrow a live dog trap, catch a dog and call them for pick-up, some don't have that resource though.

2. Risk speaking to area residents and still have the same problem. May solve it right off, but you will always be suspect from that point on.

I have had to deal with this much more than I can stand, hate it every time and always try to give a dog the benefit of the doubt since I am partial to a good dog. I have let many walk too, sometimes they just get out. One sign of aggression and all the niceties go out the window though. One of the topics that can really get my blood boiling.

I try to contact the neighbors if I know who they come from to let them know that I will start trapping using leg hold, connibear and snares as needed to catch predators. I have done this annually on my place. So me notifying them lets them know that if they like their dogs to keep them on their land. If not then I am not responsible for any injury or death to their pets.

Each situation is different.

I will say this: it doesn't matter if they are someone's pet, with/without collars, etc. - once they start roaming in packs as you describe they are bad news.

We have dogs...but a different circumstance. A couple of folks that live nearby have 'Hog Dogs' that show up on my cameras about every two weeks, lately. This past weekend (Saturday night) I could actually hear them running and barking. It sounded as if it was on our property. Checked my game cameras the next morning, and sure enough...the same dogs that ran through here the day before Thanksgiving, were caught on camera.

I have a pretty good idea who they belong to and if I am correct....the owner will not take any measures to keep his dogs off our property. I don't blame the dogs, they are doing what dogs do. Unfortunately, they are owned by a person who thinks that because his 'Daddy' and 'Granddad' hunted these woods freely, he will too.

Got news for him, times have changed. We have fences for a reason.

I've dealt with dog packs in the past and they are dangerous.
I would never go to my lease without a firearm ever since I walked up on the pack and they started growling and approaching me. They would chase deer for sport and then kill the animal and leave it, unlike a coyote.
The danger is dogs even so called feral dogs are not afraid of man like wild animals.
Use caution especially if it's a pack, and carry when out in the field and defend yourself by taking care of the problem.
Sometimes you can't talk to anyone because most people who love their animals don't let them run free, and most of the people in rural areas have dogs so it's not always easy to tell where they came from.
I've approached ranchers and shown them pictures and they pretty much just say they wouldn't allow them on their ranch.

I would not have the heart to shoot a dog

I used to talk to neighbors about their dogs. It got me nowhere. I have contacted the LEO's in the county. They told me that I knew what to do. In the past I have had Sheep, Goats and Cattle either killed or maimed by dogs. Now unless I miss they don't leave the property by their own power.

Don't say anything to anyone, take care of the problem, and don't leave any evidence that can be found. The moment you go asking around about ownership, you become suspect number one if/when the dogs do get taken care of, whether you are the one that did it or not, and that could balloon into far bigger problems.

I hate shooting dogs. Makes me feel like crap. Someone not taking care of there responsibility. Like most people. Then the dog gets the nasty end of the stick. But if I see one when I'm hunting or catch one around our cows or goats , it's toast. Without question. A pack of 4 or 5 dogs is a loose cannon. SSS

I hate the thought of shooting a dog. But, I've told the story of being attacked by a pack of dogs on my own property. They came at me. Four dogs. I had three rounds in the gun. The fourth dog left in a hurry. I shook like a leaf in a high wind when it was over.

I think there's a difference between shooting an aggressive dog and shooting a dog that's just being a dog and having some fun. Years ago a neighbor across the way had cattle, and my dog (a large pit bull mix) had gotten out and was running them around. He called me off the # listed on his tag and I went to get him. He had the dog tied up on his porch and was kind to both of us, but told me in no uncertain terms if he was caught doing it again he would have to shoot him. That was over 10 years ago but I still remember being VERY grateful to that man for not shooting my dog , and giving me a chance to make it right, and I did.

Me personally? A dog would have to be actively pursuing me for me to shoot it and large enough to hurt me. Otherwise I'd let animal control deal with it, even if I had to drive it down there myself.

Tough choice for me. I would first try to call them to me. Maybe get them settled in the blind with me. Dunno. I would shoot a dog only under extreme circumstances.
