Silencer Shop and Bowers suppressors teamed up and sent me a couple of .458 socom, and 50 Beowulf uppers along with the Bowers Vers 458 and Vers 50 suppressors to test. This is the initial test and hunt with the .458 using super and subsonic ammo.

That's a great video. I've got a 458 Bowers but I've yet to pick up a 450 or 458 upper. I was seriously considering the sub-sonic 500 grain .458 load, but you've really made me rethink things.

If the hogs are going to run either way, I'd use supersonic.

I believe the 500 grain bullets are Hornadys and designed for the 458 Win Mag and the Lott, twice the velocity plus. Going to hand loads and a softer bullet should give better results. Hawk Precision bullets are notoriously soft at normal velocity and available in thinner jackets. The hard, heavy Hornadys are also a ricochet hazard and the lighter bullets would be safer, especially at night.
Other solutions may not work well in a semi automatic rifle. I shoot a subsonic 45/70 Encore and have good results with wide flat nose and pure lead paper patch bullets, neither likely to feed in an AR.
