I'll be hunting down south next weekend and I want to shoot a bobcat so bad I can taste it. I'm taking my new fox pro, do yall have any tips on what call and even what time is best to hunt them? Iv called up and shot lots of coyotes here in central Texas but have never had the opportunity to take a cat. Any tips will be greatly appreciated

Jackrabbit, baby cottontail, and kitten distress works for me played continuously. What equipment are you using to spot them?

Definitely more active at night in my experience, although I did call one in at about 10am last wknd.

Keep a constant and steady scan going with a good/strong red LED light source, if you can get your hands on one. They have huge glowing eyes at night. You can't miss them if one shows up within 250yds.

They do tend to stalk towards the sound source slower than yotes too, so be patient as you're reeling him in. Don't be surprised if one stops under a bush and stares at you for 20 mins without moving.

What's the difference in red vs a green light?

Don't start out with volume too loud. Start low volume.

I agree that the bobcats tend to take their time coming in, typical cat behavior.

Any time of day really, if they are there they will be coming in.

I've noticed more of my cat kills have come from longer calling sessions than I would usually call for coyotes. I normally call 15-20 min on coyotes and maybe 30 min if I'm thinking there might be a cat in the area.

I also suggest using a decoy like the mojo critter, they really like the movement! Most of the decoys out there are a constant on. I really like the start and stop motion of the mojo critter, it really brings them in.

For sounds my favorite all time call is a hand call made by Burnham Brothers called the mini blaster. For electric I like higher pitched sequences like cottontail in distress or baby cottontail. I don't care for the bird type of sounds, but some seem to like it.

I have seen most of my cats during the day, haven't had nearly enough success at night. I am with Stx, if they are there, they will come in.

Don't need to call after dark if it is cool and active feeding time, works all day long. So much prettier to watch them respond with the sun on them. Put open or semi-open terrain between you and heavy cover, don't worry about the wind but have sun at your back. Camo up and sit with cover behind you to break up your outline, move slowly, very slowly.
Adios,
Gary
