Anybody out there have experience with this bullet in a centerfire .22 for deer and pig sized game? I do a lot of hunting with centerfire .22s and have never used this particular bullet.
Thanks in advance!

Several on here have hunted with the 75 grain version and speak highly of them, I think it should be a good option for standard twist barrels.

Post your results if you use them.

Bought a box of them to try but never have loaded them. I do like and use the 75gr Sirocco and it has performed well every time. Being a copper jacket clean the barrel first as it will foul quicker than the other bullets and they can produce some very good accuracy and terminal performance. With the 75gr ones from a 22-243 running 3200 fps have yet to recover one of these as they all have passed through and provide good exits, be the shot 10 yards or 400 yards.

I have consistently heard good things about the 75s...and you guys confirmed that. No real reason the 62s wouldn't work like a charm.

Thanks for the replies and I'm open to more!

I'll be playing with this Nosler 64 grain bonded bullet. The 65 grain Sierra game king my son has been shooting isn't exiting. I'd like to get an exit with the 223 rifle without going to a solid bullet. I figure a good bonded bullet would be worth a try. I'll be loading some of these very soon.

Chad: I have used the Nosler 64 grain Bonded on a couple mule deer. It is an IMPRESSIVE bullet. They were accurate, I used them in a .223AI and they stabilized in a 1 in 12 twist just fine. I actually thought they were a little too destructive, so went back to Barnes TTSXs. Definitely got an exit. I feel they would make a great bullet for hogs, though I haven't personally shot any with them.
Also tried them in a pair of .22-250s, both with 1 in 14 twists, and neither rifle would stabilize them....FWIW

Let me know what you think when you get a chance to use them!

The 64 gr Nosler is a constructed a lot like the old 55 gr Trophy bonded Bear Claw that I have used in 223 and 22-250 and most of the time it exited but not always, the extra weight and sectional density should help with the exit situation. There is a military load that uses a very similar bullet and the ones of that one have exited hogs that I have shot with them with good destruction along the wound canal.

Still hard to beat the 60gr Partition though if your gun likes it.

Ive used the 75gr sirocco II to take game as tough as nilgai, but it wouldnt be my first choice for a nilgai. Deer and pig i wouldnt hesistate. My friend dropped a 140lb to 150lb boar with my 62gr nosler FBHP varmageddon load this weekend. It wasnt an instant kill, he kicked for a minute or so, but dropped him right there. Opened him up and basically exploded vital area impressively for a .224 dia bullet. More often than not if you push the bullet at the right speeds in relation to bullet construction and you have good shot placement even a core-lokt, which isnt the deadliest mushroom in the woods, will do the job.

kmon1: Odd that you mention the 55 gr. TTBC I used to really like that bullet! And you are right, wound channel characteristics and overall damage are pretty much mirrored by the 64 gr BSB. I tried the 60 gr. NPTs when they first came out but had only moderate accuracy out of them. Too bad, because I'm a Nosler fan!

I had some 64 BSBs still on my bench so I just loaded up a box to try in a 1 in 8 twist .223AI....never tried them in a tight twist.

Im long time user/fan of the 60 grain nosler partition never a complaint with how the function. I may regret it, but when what I have loaded runs out I will be testing out the 64 grain nosler bonded solid base bullet. I haven't looked in a while, but seems like they were significantly cheaper than partitions.

I have mentioned this elsewhere but when the 60 NPTs came out a friend was playing with a Jeunke Concentricity comparator and ran a box through it, dividing the bullets into three piles...good, better, and best. I have a 1 in 10 twist Hart barreled .223 that seems to digest anything, so with identical loads, I ran the bullets through the gun at the range. They shot exactly as they were divided, good, better and best.Groups ranged from 1.25 on the good to .65 on the best. Obviously an average from the box would be easily acceptable hunting accuracy.
Price wise I'm not sure how the 64BSBs stack up against the 60 NPTs...but a guy can often get a good price from their Shooters Pro shop on either.

I've shot plenty of cactus pears with them at 100-150 yards, maybe not a match grade bullet but they are more than enough for the typical hunter.

^^^^^^

Yep. The vitals on a deer or pig are a whole bunch bigger than cactus pears! They work great!

Fwiw, partitions are not a bullet that shoots well out of alot of guns. BT's will have a much higher % of accuracy vs partitions. Havent figured out why just seen this to be a trend in mine and many others rifles

Jorge: I have found that partitions will shoot pretty well with some judicious hand loading in many rifles.. But I have also found what you said...the BTs are a whole bunch easier to get them to shoot in just about anything. My only guess as to why is what I alluded to earlier-concentricity. It has to be harder to get two cores concentric than it is to get one, though its obviously not much of an issue as partitions have been working very well for a whole bunch of people for a long time.Ive seen a number of rifles that will shoot either one scary good.

Buzzsaw: I REALLY appreciate the offer, but I live in Montana...long way away...plus I found some 64 BSBs on my bench and loaded them up to try in a tight twist gun when I can dig out through the snow! My rifle is a .223AI but I haven't done any magazine modification to it so the 75 grainers won't fit worth a hoot! ( I tried some 75 Amax...) Anyway, thanks mucho for the offer! I may just get out of my cheap seat and pop for some of the 62 grainers!
