Finally got some birds down and had some great hunts. Shot our 5 man Thursday (Arkansas) and 6 man Saturday. Thursday we shot this really cool Gad. Heard of it but never seen one like it. I'm guessing it has some Mallard in it? The white ring is the only feature that resembles a Mallard though. Ever seen one like it?

They're not looking for one thing right....they're looking for one thing wrong.

I killed a similar one last year. Still kicking myself for not having it mounted. Cool bird!

Great looking bird and yes it's just a gad. Many species are very closely related and carry recessive genes of other species. It's not terribly uncommon to see a trait if one species pop out in another.

Lotta collector hunters would love to get that bird.

I've killed em with a black ring around the neck, but that's pretty unique. Cool bird!

The guy who does my mounts killed one just like that last year. He did a dead mount with it looks pretty cool. Congrats!

Nice bag. Shot one that looks pretty close but never took a picture from that angle.
