Has anyone hunted here? I am taking a trip for work to Cactus, Texas in the coming weeks and am going to take the opportunity to take Amos and try and find some birds.
Secondly, if anyone would like to take their dog and see if we cant find some birds you're more than welcome. Company is paying for the gas and the hotel room so it'd be a free trip.

Where is Kiowa and Rita Blanca National Grasslands?

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Our ranch borders the Rita Blanca. There are very few quail on the grasslands in fact its rare to see a quail.

Lying is lying. Don't bitch about one doing it and condone another. That's called hypocrisy.

If you have ever been to the Rita Blanca grasslands you will understand why there are no birds. It's short grass prairie. The grass is about 3 inches tall and at the most 6. No brush what so ever. Good antelope country not exactly great bird habitat. Not saying you might not get lucky and find 1 covey of blue quail. Call the local game warden he can fill you in Im sure.

I stopped and let my pointer run around and there were lots of prairie dogs and a coyote that acted pretty aggressive to my dog, but no birds...
