Well I got my bull! Have been kinda chasing them between muledeer and whitetail. Not expecting to see them yesterday but it turned out great! 3 shots to vitals with a 7mm mag he was toast! My first elk! Free range west Texas bull.   3 shots to vitals with a 7mm mag??? That was a tough elk.

Yes Sir , great Elk ! Congratulations ! I live in W.Texas also but I had no idea there were any Elk this far down from up north ?? I'm just a hop-skip and jump from Pecos Cty .

Either last year or year before there was an Elk spike found dead on a highway in the Midland area. In drought they range into new territory. Longfellow Ranch has had Elk for a very long time and has a huge population of them, all free range.
