I have done both. I bolted down a smaller safe but not my large one. figured it would be to difficult for anyone to move loaded especially if it is a crackhead.

It would take me and a helper two minutes to leave with the safe if it's not bolted down.

Red Head 3/8" x 2 1/2" bolt in anchors after hammer drilling the holes out. Bolt it down if you want to keep it. Theives love safes just siting in place.

The biggest reason to bolt one down is so smash and grab thieves can't knock it over and try to pry the door open. Even if they can't get it open, think of all the damage done to your firearms being tossed to the ground in a 500 lbs box.

Bolt it down! Nothing is fool proof but no need to make it easy for a thief.

Make sure you know if you have tension slab or not. You don't want to drill into one of those cables.

I don't say bolt it down (only) but bolt it sideways too depending on the design. Multiple planes make it more difficult to dislodge.

The weight of the open door makes it unstable and more likely to tip over if not bolted down.

Bolt it down!!! My safe guy used 10" long anchor screws, drilled in at a slight angle away from the corners. That safe is not going anywhere!
