So my wife and I have been duck hunting a few times fishing a few times in out new boat so we figured why not pull an all nighter cast n blast. I finally got the light bar, uhf, and depth gauge installed at about 9pm friday night. I go get cleaned up and lay down in bed. Im in bed all of 15 minutes and my wife is dragging me out of bed too excited to sleep so we loaded up and headed down to the bay. We got on the water by midnight and caugh a nice size red drum, black drum, dropped the crab pots and hept searching for a place to gig too but we never have so that was a bust. By 5 am we got to our spot and put out the decoys and parked the boat about 150 yards down the way. Its not cammo...in face its white and grey, so I had a little concern that we would be busted with the boat fairly close. That wasnt really the case, but after no sleep for over 24 hours our aim wasnt the greatest and we both missed a few shots. We did get some redhead and had a couple shots at bufflehead but even though they decoyed they landed outside of our spread and were too far for a shot. Then the adventure really began. Apparently I look at the tides wrong and it was going out from the time we got there... got to the boat and it was beached! Luckily the engine was only about 3" in the mud and I was able to muscle it out. I just installed the depth gauge and hadnt run it skinny but found out we could idle with the trim way up with a 1.2' deep reading:)

Man..I love my wife....then we get back to the doc and she wants to wade fish! Talk about hard core. We ended up with fish, duck, and a bunch of blue crab and an awesome memory....now im off to bed cuz I havent slept since thursday night! Cheers!

Well she didnt gut and clean the fish. She would but im faster at it so I get the fillets out and she cuts m up, bags m and gets the duck in the marinade.

She was the one who actually found the boat stuck. I stayed duck hunting while she walked back to grab some snacks and drinks out of the cooler...she called me and said hey! Just wanna let you know we are stuck like chuck, theres some popup storms on the way, the next high tide is 9pmish and I ate all the doritos. Lol. Then she proceeded to bring the snacks back to hunt more. We laughed so hard and then I made the call to see what it would take to get the boat out. No ducks were flying in about an hour or two and of course about 10 min after picking up the decoys we see flocks overhead while trolling back to the dock.

She did, however, help push the boat out when it got stuck and then we hand towed the boat with the engine up and had to wade tow it about 400 yards to deeper water...then the wind picked up and with the shallow water couldnt get the anchor to stick so she held the boat in place while I gathered the decoys. What a fun trip! Cant wait till next weekend for a flooded timber hunt while checking out a lease for next year.
