i bought a tikka t3 today.. and while it comes with rings, i want to maybe do better if it makes sense to do so. I'm thinking the dn. 1 piece or maybe just leupold rings. What are the thoughts out there?

Don't use those factory rings

You could go with talley lightweights, dnz, or get a pic rail ring set up

no 1 objective is to get the scope bell as close to the barrel as possible, but...for some people, this is uncomfortable, a 1/4" or so I don't think would have that much effect on accuracy, if I am wrong someone will correct me.

I liked the set of warne maximas I had in a rifle. Around $50.

I think I'll try a set of the swfa rings next.

so I read a few reviews and went with the dnz low mount... it looks like the most solid idea out there and I think its as low as I can go with the scope im going with which is a leupold 3-9x40 vx2

Ive run both DNZ and Talley and both are good. But I do like the DNZ better. Its a true one piece mount. Lows should be perfect for your scope

Talley or DNZ. I like the look of the Talley better but DNZ looks like they would be stronger. Those are about all I use anymore

I install a lot of scopes on Tikka's using Warne and Leupold, never had any come back.

I prefer Leopold dual dovetail or Burris Zee rings on steel Warne mounts. Reliable and look good.

I have leupold bases and rings on both my Tikka's and they are tack drivers. Never had an issue

I use a pic base or rail and use Burris XTR rings. Work great so far on most of my rifles. I like the 6 hole rings and of course I align and lap the rings as you should with all rings.
