We're lucky enough to have a little place on the bank of the Trinity, about 10 miles downstream of the Richland Chambers spillway. Lots of pigs, a few deer, and a 200 yard target range with a nice steel rack. The river has been out of its banks for weeks and the rain this weekend promises to keep it that way well through the new year. I save up two weeks of vacation each year to use for hunting between Thanksgiving and New Years....looks like there will not be much fo that this year.
Anybody else losing prime hunting spots to the flooding?
We all need to practice Whoa more.

I have hunted in muddy slosh four weekends this year. And a lot of that time it has been raining and cold. But as long as I can get to the blind, I am hunting.

Hurting me too, have to wear hip or chest waders to reach some of my stands. Also since we are archery only I won't hunt in a hard rain and it seems to rain every time i take vacation or on the weekends. This morning 74 degrees with a 20 MPH wind.

economy income, had ta give up 1 1/2 weeks of vacation cause they needed workers, how ever they did pay me for that two weeks, income was over hunting... has three months deer season... Never got set back cause of rain... Had many a bullets get that thar ganggreen from sitting in tree during light rain, it start pouring, hit camp, then back out... Later years box stand keep ya dry... Hog hunts been known ta go chest deep in problem areas WMA that were flooded for en & chillen, here at house were set up, doesn't realy flood.. Like people, animals hit higher ground when flooding accures.. sometimes just gotta do with what ya got, some things we have no contol over... As pappy says: i gots ta make every buck count, till can get some more doe

I haven't even been to the stand once this year....BIL & other member have been out a few times...shot a couple deer and a couple hogs....for me it's been too wet or I was too tired....not "hating" those deer as much as last year...of course, last year my commute to work was 1.5 miles instead of 116 miles (1-way)....I figure that has some to do with it also......

High-tech one second ya logged in, poof your not... tis a conspiracy i tell ya, Gov finds out ya gots alien body parts, ya go on de watch list . Hunted the Richland Chambers WMA time or two, doe or spike after deer season closed... Good hunten, lot of people put in for deer draw hunts... Don't think they have gun season for the $48.00 permit... i kinda a softy, never did hate deer, twas more for en & chillen... i had the orange easing threw woods, & two does walked right up to me... Couldn't pull trigger... Flooded WMA's usualy benafits privet hunting land do ta stiffer regulations of WMA land vs county rules... Here can take 4 deer legaly gun season... Yet always grabbed me bow & stand & hunted the Archery only WMA down the road... Not sure how bad your hunting area is... It can still be some great hunting, do ta flooding... My vacation usualy went ta Minnesota ta spend time with family & some times day or two ta hunt... i busy piddlen in yard, would rather be hunten...

Henderson Co, getting hammered this year.
Opening morning started walking in and the creek we usually walk through was roaring and not passable.
Is cold dry weather to much to ask for? I got stung by a wasp yesterday, because It's 80 degrees

I'll hunt in the cold, in fact I prefer it. I'll hunt in a light rain. Twenty years ago I would have hunted in the cold rain...but not any more. I refuse to wade or kayak to my stand.
We all need to practice Whoa more.
