As part of our Outdoor Education program here at Kennedale HS, we have an Archery Team, Bass Fishing Team, an Outdoor Education Club, and Outdoor Education classes. If you have any outdoors related items out there that are just collecting dust and would like to get them into the hands of kids who would put them to good use, please let me know and we can make arrangements to get the goods to the group of kids you wish to donate them to.
Items that would be utilized include, but are not limited to:
Used rod and reels that you have no use for that a kid could have to use
Old fishing and hunting magazines for the display rack we have in the halls
Lures, Soft Plastics, Hooks, line...whatever fishing related things that are cluttering up your garage or boat that you never use.
We are a Title 1 school and the kids have responded well to these programs with 390 kids taking the OUtdoor Education classes the past two years, will have a state qualifying NASP Archery Team in our first year of competition, have already had a team win the Eagle Mountain THSBA Bass Tourney out of 181 teams, and have appeared on Billy Kinder Outdoors radio show promoting the Adventures in Outdoor Education program nationwide for all kids and schools.
It doesn't have to be pretty, just functional. Kids who have no fishing gear will use whatever they are given and love every minute of it. We take our Outdoor Education Club to a cookout and fishing tourney at a local park every year. For many, it is their first time to ever catch a fish. We try to give them a little bit of something to use that day and keep if they don't have anything at home.
Thanks for all in the past who have donated items to the kids.
