Is it a good choice?

I used to feed it and my dogs did great on it but after doing some research I found out that Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice is actually rated higher (multiple dog food rating websites) and cheaper. So we feed Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice or Chicken & Rice. The dogs love it and they look great.

I like pro plan, and have tried plenty of other dog foods. Taste of the wild, Diamond, Fromm, are just to name a few. The one thing that kept me coming back to pro plan was endurance, and quicker recovery time.
One of mine has to eat Victor due to a food allergy. If it wasn't for the allergy he would be on pro plan.

I fed it for awhile during hunting season and switched to Purina Dog Chow in the summer. I didn't switch a few years ago, so now I just feed Dog Chow. It works fine for my pointer.

I feed pro plan 30/20 good stuff and just about all my picky dog will eat.

My breeder started Izzy on Proplan. I wanted a better more expensive food, so I ran around for a while. I found out Izzy had an allergy to wheat so I ended back at Proplan about 3-4 years ago. Everything looks good on all three dogs that eat it now. I feed the chicken and brown rice grain free one.

I feed Pro Plan 30/20.

At $35 a bag it's not no bad compared to what else is available locally at Tractor Supply.

Fed Diamond for awhile then fed the Sams Club stuff (Exceed I think?) and now using Pro-Plan.

No complaints so far although I'm far from a dog food expert.

It is a good choice that is readily available. I tried some of the other top brands such as Dr. Tims and Victor. I didn't see any notable difference plus you have to plan ahead. In other words don't run low on Friday afternoon.

All great choices referenced above just stuck with PP for convenience.

I started feeding Dr. Tim's in July and recommend it every chance I get. My dog is a picky eater with a weak stomach but scarfs this stuff down with zero issues. Momentum is 35/25 and 588 cal/cup.

I have fed Pro Plan for many years and with good success. Note, there are a number of varieties of pro plan out there, and I have only fed Performance (Chicken/corn and the fish/rice formula). It is a good food, and can be found almost anywhere. Additionally, Purina and their Pro Plan brand is also a very large sponsor of dog performance events, which is a good thing. Personally, I feed Orijen. It is very spendy, super high quality, but most importantly, it makes my dog run at her best.

Asking about dog food is like asking what is the best shotgun to buy. You will get lots of suggestions.

I suggest you do your research and then go with what works for your dog, budget and philosophy (natural, mostly meat, brand recognition, organic, etc..).

Pro Plan here. We've tried others but always end up back with PP 30-20. It's expensive but if you shop around and catch sales on the internet you can get some deals. Join the Purina Club and you get cks to use on feed.

Proplan is good stuff. I fed it for many years with great success, until one of my dogs developed a food allergy to chicken protein. A lot of good dog foods out their but for the price Proplan is hard to beat. Bottom line is that if your dogs do well on it, keep feeding it.

Purina is the only dog food that actively supports our dog games.

Chicken - Real Good

Corn gluten meal - Anything "corn" is bad because your dog's body can't absorb it. It will be pooped out

Brewers rice - Some folks like rice while others don't. They say the dog's body can't absorb it just like the corn.

Animal fat preserved with mixed tocopherols (form of Vitamin E) - "Animal fat" is very vague. This can be anything swept off of the slaughter mill's floor

Poultry by product meal (natural source of glucosamine) - Saying "poultry" instead of "chiecken" is a bad deal. By-products can include anything on the body that's swept up off the floor including beaks, feet, bone, etc. They grind it into a past before inserting it in the feed.

Whole grain corn - Again, cannot be absorbed by dog's body

Corn germ meal - Cannot be absorbed

Fish meal (natural source of glucosamine) - Iffy, but I'd like it if I were consider this feed

I feed my dog Victor Hi-Pro Plus.

Anyone ever heard of it? My dog seems to love it!!! It was recommended by the breeder and it is for sporting dogs...

Only unprocessed corn is indigestible by dogs. Corn that is processed properly has a multitude of nutritional benefits for dogs. On the flip side other ingredients such as barley that are claimed by some manufacturers to be superior truly are indigestible. Black Gold Performance Blend 26-18 most of the year and the 24-20 when it is colder. When hunting dogs days on end, I supplement with the Dog Forte.
