I deer and duck hunt down in Lavaca county on a couple hundred acres. Out of the 20+ years l have been going down there l have never seen Geese land in one our fields. Now l see them way up in the sky all the time and occasionally on a foggy day they fly a little lower than normal. I get it that this not one of their normal feeding/landing areas but seeing what chance you guys think l have of convincing the high flyers that this is a new spot that they need come down to check out if l put out a respectable spread of decoys in one of our hay fields

Snows. I'm assuming. Slim chance. But you don't know till you try.

I would say not a chance. They are are headed for the coastal marshlands. They can almost see it from their vantage point.

I would think you could for sure kill a few. All those outfitters in the midwest hunt migrating birds more often than feeding fields I bet. Birds get tired from migrating and become stupid is what I've been told. You would probably have a better chance in the spring season when you can use an e caller

It is always worth a shot so you can have some closure on whether or not it would work. If I was you, I would wait until a low visibility/cloud ceiling morning with wind blowing 10-20 mph to give you the best chance at the birds flying lower. You could probably pull smaller groups of snows that have separated from their groups in the denser cloud cover with a big spread.
