Do you keep your pistol magazines loaded or not. I have heard that you should not keep your magazines loaded because it weakens the springs. What's your take on it.

texas I am allergic to stupidity. You can't fix Stupid, but you can occasionally head it off before it hurts someone.

Loaded, wont hurt a thing. What wears out a magazine spring is the use of loading and unloading.

I think loading and unloading weakens the springs.

I keep my AR and carry mags loaded.

It ain't easy being me.

I also keep mine loaded. What prompted my question was a problem with M1 Carbine magazine springs taking a set after being loaded for a long time. I discovered this when I started having problems with double feeds with some of the magazines. When I replaced the springs I noted that the new springs were considerably longer and had more power and the problem went away.
