Greatness right there. Kid has got more spunk than most hunters that I know. Not even my kid and I'm proud of him.

Thanks for all the kind words and praise. I passed them onto him and he was grinning from ear to ear.
The hunt was in a pretty high profile area(lots of hikers and bikers that love to take pictures of the sheep) which is why it was weekdays. The Division of Wildlife asked us to keep a low profile as they had gotten some bad press about the hunt. I originally intended to bring in one of my donkeys to pack it out, but changed the plan as the donkey always draws a crowd. By the time we got the ewe off the mountain, it was close to dark. We hiked back out and got a wagon. We wrapped her up in a tarp, and pulled her out. The canyon closes at dark so we were the only ones allowed back there at that time of day. He pulled her for a good mile, and I pulled the cart for the rest. There was an area about 1/2mile off the dirt road that we were told was a good area for gutting her. We didn't gut her on the mountainside as it would have been too visible.

We are the meat tonight and it is excellent. I had been told that I would enjoy it and it really is very good. Great hunt!

how do you get within 20 yards of a sheep?!? that's incredible

that's a shame about how secretive you had to be about the hunt....we have always found rural Colorado to be supportive of hunting but not in areas like Vail, Aspen, etc.

what part of Colorado was the hunt?

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

The hunt was just south of Denver on property owned by the City of Denver/Pike National Forest. The Division of Wildlife officer that covers the unit was awesome, she was out there when we were to answer questions and ensure we were not bothered by anyone. Denver has a recreation specialist that was out there as well. He was great to work with. I would just text him when we were going to be in there, and he would let the workers in the canyon know to expect to see us. Both were very helpful in ensuring a great hunt.
