We throw squash over the fence in the summer. People give link sausage away, and ask about recipes. It's no problem for me. I put my squash in my marinara sauce when my garden is in. A neighbor gave me some links. Here you go.

I make mine from scratch , when my tomatoes are in. I scald and skin the tomatoes. Then put them in the processor with bell peppers, and onions. Stew them up for several minutes, then add yellow squash and zucchini if I have them, for a few minutes. I add tomato pastes and Italian seasons at the end. I make and freeze about five quarts each spring.
You can do the same thing with store bought. Just add squash for about 15 minutes. You can't want to over cook your squash.

You could also do scratch with canned stewed tomatoes and tomato paste, plus your Italian spices, with added squash.
I also, like mushrooms in mine.
