Two guys that were suppose to go to Kansas with me next week just bailed out. Looks like I'll end up taking a week or so to travel somewhere in Texas to hunt. I don't want to hunt the coast or south Texas because I go there all the time. If yall were to have to pick between north Texas, east Texas and west Texas/panhandle for a week of public hunting, which would you choose.

My plan for the week was to spend the first day driving. Buy my license when I got there and then spend the next day or two driving around scouting. Now that they bailed, there's no way I can afford motel rooms by myself for a week plus gas and food ect. My new plan I'm trying to work out is to run to Kansas for 3 or 4 days, take minimal duck gear and focus on pheasants and maybe ducks if I happen to find some. Then come back and spend the rest of the week at my mom's in ntx duck hunting. That way I still get to go to Kansas, and when I come back I don't have to worry about another 4 nights of hotel rooms to pay for. Sounds like the best of both worlds to me.

I do admire your sense of adventure. Be safe, especially since you're alone, and good luck to you. up cheers

The adventure is the best part. I'd rather spend a week doing it on my own and shoot nothing than hire a guide.
