I did notice one thing. I'm not hunting in any of those counties, so I guess it could take me more than a year or two to get my B&C buck.
Cabin rental in Pagosa Springs, Co. Sleeps 10, If interested please PM me.

OK - here is the official Boone and Crockett records for both typical and non typical book deer by county in Texas. This is for the past 30 years - 1985 to 2015
TYPICAL # of ENTRIES
1. Maverick 19 2. La Salle 10 3. Dimmit 9 4. Grayson 7 5. Webb 7
NON TYPICAL
1. Maverick 50 2. Webb 37 3. Dimmit 34 4. La Salle 33 5. Kleberg 19 Thanks tlk. I knew the info I posted yesterday was outdated and goes back as far as B&C has been around, not just the past 30 years. I'm really not surprised by this as Maverick Co. has really come on in the past 15 years or so. Your lease is obviously producing book deer as is Holden Roofing's NC pasture and Lord only knows what Lee Bass and friends are killing.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Many do not enter contest but when someone kills a buck that nets Boone and Crockett book I think most will put it in IMO.

There are book deer killed in other Texas counties - I just listed the top five. There are actually a few that are listed in counties you would never dream could produce a book deer. There are 78 TExas counties with at least one B&C book deer killed on the typical side. There are 67 Texas counties with at lease one B&C book deer killed on the non typical side.

I'm interested in the best counties for big deer within 1-2 hours of Fort Worth? Or maybe a little farther if it makes a difference?

And by that I mean not surrounded by meat hunters. These two bucks were taken this year off a small low fenced (77) acre place that has some but not much hunting pressure around it.

Not here, on my old ranch we had 4 that net and won't ever be seen in a book or contest. Several P&Y, well actuall almost every one killed makes P&Y. Didn't want the press or poaching. On my farm apparently we also have couple state record antelope and net BC that won't ever been entered in to "the book" or records program including one Mulie and two whitetails.

One of them the shooter doesn't even know its been scored not doubting that at all but I have seen a number of bucks that were people said would "book" but would actually not meet the net score if officially scored. May have great gross scores but net is a whole different ballgame with the way B&C scores. Also if one is entered the ranch name does not have to be displayed anywhere - even in the contest like Las Cazadores no ranch name is required. So worrying about poachers, etc. can be pretty much alleviated.

Infact you can buy a platt book that gives you ever land owner in the county and details on land. Some I have moved to Inc or LLC so it's harder to find but none the less unscrubed photos have been posted. GPS cords pulled and property researched thus I've been called several times from potential leasees and outfitters. Welcome to the age of technology

This is why I don't like the net scoring system for B&C.
Who came up with that bright idea to penalize a deer for being one of a kind with character?
If it was gross score it would be much better IMO.

Collin and Grayson if you want big bucks. South Texas if you want big bucks that are heavily managed by ranch rules and wanna come out your [censored] pocket with lots of cash.

In your slam on ST you left out "and if you want to shoot 180 to over 200 inch deer on a regular basis" - Wouldn't trade South Texas hunting for any other place I know of. To each his own - that is the beauty of having freedom of choice
