The women went out looking around the last couple of days.

The left is our resting area, the right is what we call the Shrinking Field Wetland.

This is our biggest breach looking into the West Wetland. In the trees in the far back of the picture is what we call the Bigfoot Hole, our largest timber unit.

Just an idea of how much ground is gone at this levee...

Breach in our East Wetland Levee. This box stand is used for Youth Deer Hunts. Not supposed to be water in this field. It is supposed to be behind the tree line, which is the East Wetland.

Another Box blind that is supposed to be dry! Behind is what we call the Long Wetland and the trees in the far back is what we call our Squirrel Hole, our smaller timber unit.

Yes sir... I'll be one happy dude when they are able to fix the Chambers creek levee. It's pointless for me to do anything until that is done. I cannot do anything until we drain everything this spring anyways, but we are thinking it is going to be late summer when they fix the main levee at the creek.

They are releasing water from lewisville and grapevine as of yesterday. Flooding trinity. I also hear they couldn't let water out of cedar creek lake because water had no were to go. Crazy. Went to check out my wetland- water levels have dropped about 1.5ft- had a lot more puddle ducks on it than last weekend.

Is there any way to back fill levy? Guess w water already out wouldn't solve anything

Dang, that water just moving dirt wherever it wants to. Are there any areas to drop sandbags to hold back the water in some of your wetlands? If we get another wet spring going into summer that may delay the Chambers levee repairs. You do any planting in your wetlands or just moist soil management?

We thought about sand bags, but with chambers able to freely get out of banks, it would be pointless. The water comes over our levees. Just at the mercy of mother nature. We will have water, just not where it is managed.

We do some planting. We have some picked corn and maize fields that we flood out, but the birds tend to go towards the natural stuff. We have an abundance of wild millet and widgeon grass in most of the pools that are not planted. We do plant rye grass religiously in one field, which is great for the geese in the spring. We like to kill them in woods, so we rely heavily on acorns and pecans for our birds.

I guess the biggest problem you will have is to make sure to get the water out of the trees in a timely manner, as to not damage them and have good production next year.

Oh yeah. These trees are under water for ~75 days a year. Never had a problem, but we have never drowned them like this....
