I'm about to get my CHL and needed to know everyone's thoughts on what is the best carry pistol? Preferably 380 or 9mm. Thanks

One that feels good in your hand and that your confident in. You will get suggestions for just about, every make before long but its preference mostly. Depending on the day I may carry a 9mm xdm, .40 xd subcompact, or a full size sig 1911.

G36, or the xd-s.
Find out which feels best in the hand and go with it.

I carry a Glock 19 or a Ruger LC380 depending on wardrobe (jeans or shorts).

Full size or commander 1911. Still the most comfortable that I've found.

Never was a Glock guy until I actually held one in my hand. Glock 19 is my favorite. Prefer it over my sigs to be honest.

One feature about the Glock that is overlooked for carry use is that if it gets some holster wear or gets banged up a little, it's not going to look much worse than it did, fresh out of the box.
To me that's a feature, not a bug.

Suggest checking out a few comparisons on youtube and perhaps go to a range that will rent them to try. No doubt the Glock is among the most reliable, but the grip angle is not comfortable for me. I like the Shield but sure the others are great as well.
I was wrong...on anything technical. Fitz............. is right, ya know............

#1- Get one that you will carry.
For 9mm, a Glock G19 or G26 can be carried very easily. Also, look at the Kahr P9, PM9, and CW9 models.
I carry a Glock G29 (in 10mm) daily when I wear dress shorts or slacks with a belt. When I wear gym shorts, I carry a Kahr PM40. I have a Galco Sto N Go holster or my home made belly band with a solid kydex holster velcro'd to the eleastic belly band. I can position the pistol however I want when wearing gym shorts with the belly band.

Also, get a good holster to use. I have tried many and highly recommend the Cross Bread IWB, or similar design. They are very comfortable and I wear mine for a full day often. I like holsters that have the belt attachments front and back of the pistol, so it reduces the amount of "bump" or amount it sticks out.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I really like the CW40 for its reliability and ease of concealment.

I like the Springfield XD single stack in 9mm. It fits good in my hand and easy to conceal. Really nice weapon.

My best advice is to go to a range that rents handguns and give several a try. Usually you can handle them and see which one fits your hand the best. It's surprising how some handguns just seem to "fit" better than others.
